Hey! Began my adventure in late 1992 in Customer Service, then Tech Support, followed by Applications Engineering and finally as a Product Support Manager. Left in 2000 and began a string of ~5 year roles with a few companies. Currently consulting (primarily in payments for retail and QSR/fast casual restaurant clients) for the past 7+ years. Married (22 years) with 2 daughters (21/19) and living in Palatine, IL. Have a couple unopened Telephony products and maybe a few other things I need to gather!! Can’t wait to see everyone!!
Hey, Jim, glad to see you here! Please do gather any goodies you'd like to show off -- and if you have any photos/videos from those days, please scan and upload them to our Google Photos album. The link is in the "How to share..." thread here.
Hi all! Kelaine Olvera, started at USR in 1992 In Customer Service, then Tech Support and then finally Product Management. left in 2001 when I was laid off as they shut down my division. Sad day! Divorced, remarried & now living in London England. In the past 12 years have built a career in marketing. 😀. Don’t have any memorabilia but will try to dig up some pics. I will be there — can’t wait to see you all!!
Started 08-1996, hired into the PCD Strategic Development Group:under: Steve Farkas <-Dave Padgitt <- Rob (Home Automation Engineering). Then: • Mark Bayer <- Dave Padgitt <- Rob (Strategic Development Engineering). • Bob Suffern <- Dave Padgitt <- Rob (or directly to Bob?, as Strat Dev. Engr.).• Salim Ling <- Len Landi <- Rob. (if I'm remembering right), (Strat. Dev. Engr.)• Doug Adams <- Rob (DSL Bus. Dev. Mgr.).• Dean Brady <- Rob (____ Digital Home/Intuitive Customer Experience Home Mgr.). Still can't believe that was 22-26 years ago! Such fond memories. Such good people! Some of that was working on the dark-side; but, my blood still bleeds red!
Started on April 1st, 1996. Was hired to manage the PC Card and Mac modems but on my first day (April 1st), I was in the VP's office (Michael?) and he said "we're going to let Salt Lake manage the PC Cards and someone else will manage the Mac product line". I think my response was, "Glad I packed light then". He then told me I'd be bringing the 56k (x2) products to market. HR gave everyone a mug with their name on it on Day 1 back then but mine said "Guest". Given that I started on April 1st, I refused to ever give it back or to take one with my name. Just didn't feel right. My AOL name was x2dude and then v90dude back in the AIM days. One other note, on the day I landed in Chicago from Oregon, I called my boss (Joe "Dunce"more - sorry, can't help it) and he asked if I could swing by his house to help him move a couch. Welcome to USR! LOL. Loved every minute of it until 2000? Or the Dark Years as I like to think of them. Ask me about the 3Com anniversary celebration some time.
Hey, Dean! Maybe we could use that 3Com story as a guide for what *not* to do.
Do you have any cool tchotchkes, swag and/or T-shirts to bring to the party? If so, please list them for us on the Memorabilia thread -- we need to know how many tables/racks to order to display them.
I was at USR before Tracy -- 1992, to be exact. I fondly remember the glory days (at least I think I do -- we partied hard then). Bounced around to a few odd freelance jobs (some *very* odd), then retired. Still married to Ken (50+ years!). Still walk, but no more running. Lots of reading, Netflix/Prime watching, cooking, kvetching at these youngsters who don't remember how we used to scratch the internet into the walls of our caves, uphill both ways, in the snow.
LOL ok. Tracy Lunquist - started at USR in 1995 and was on the wild ride of x2. Many of you may remember the frequent "Connect NOW" email messages that updated you on our progress toward the goal of 1000 ISPs using x2 technology within a year of the x2 launch -- those were all me.
Since then I've divorced and remarried, built my own little coaching/consulting practice supporting leadership and strategy for small businesses, and meandered my way down to Central Florida. The rest you'll have to ask me about in person at the reunion!

You first.
